King of the harmonica and Gershwin expert dies jriley33
Tue Aug 7 2001 21:50
At Christmas in the 40's and before the war had ended my aunt bought me (age 7) a plastic harmonica (metal was scarce). I learned to play and soon discovered Larry Adler who then became one of my first musical hero's. Tonight I will sit back and listen to him play Rhapsody in Blue and thank him for all the musical doors he opened for me. And, if nobody is around, I may play a few old tunes on my hardly used harmonica in his memory. I'm sure he'll forgive me.
