Stephen Roberts sings Mahler Live in San Diego jbrunsman
Thu Oct 25 2001 01:56
This symphony for two voices was my introduction to Mahler 50 years ago by the 78 rpm album with Kerstine Thorberg and Charles Kullman, directed by Bruno Walter, which I still have and will certainly listen to again. However the arrangement for small orchestra today even seems more appropriate for its clearly heard accompanying parts, making the words even more heart rendering. A wonderful performance I've converted to CD.
John Brunsman
