Ferruccio Tagliavini died in 1995, Sidney Goldman
Sat Oct 27 2001 22:54
Very little is written about this grteat belcanto tenor from Italy and Metropolitan Opera star performer in the 50's. Why has so little been written about his career and his winderful recordings by Cetra and RCA Victor on 45 rpm,and LP.

He had recorded a number of Neapolitan love songs, that, I believe have never been placed on CDs. I know a number of small CD companies have issued similar arias from Cetra, and Cetra has those few arias also on its own label. Cetra is no longer around to issue any more archival recordings. Anyway, Tagliavini has been shortchanged by the classical music magazines, as to articles about him, or reviewing the extant recordings available to the belcanto tenor lover or opera lover of fine singing.
