Royal Ballet Principal Dancer, Darcey Bussell and her colleagues are to dance in the opening sequence of the next Bond movie, wearing figure-hugging black leather outfits.
A self-confessed fan of James Bond films, Darcey Bussell is no stranger to movie sets, having had a small role in True Blue and appearing recently in a TV commercial for the UK bank Lloyds TSB.
Filming is scheduled to begin six weeks after Bussell’s first baby is due in July, giving her time, she says, to “get back in shape”. She is still attending ballet class with the company every day and intends to do so right up until the birth.
Early reports indicate that the scene will show a ballet being rehearsed. Yet to be named, this ballet will be created by Resident Royal Ballet Choreographer, Ashley Page.
Darcey Bussell, who receives a high profile in the UK press, has been described as a ‘classical princess’ and quickly rose to the rank of Principal after joining the Royal Ballet during their 1987/88 season. One of the few ‘home-grown’ Royal Ballet stars, she was created an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1995 New Year Honours.
