Caramoor Jazz Festival
It’s no accident that the Caramoor International Music Festival is considered to be one of the top five music festivals in the US. Caramoor has a longstanding reputation among musicians, listeners, and the press as a wonderful celebration of great music in one of the loveliest settings anywhere.
Every June through August, Caramoor's Spanish Courtyard and Venetian Theater present outstanding concerts performed by renowned artists. This forty year tradition of presenting the best classical and jazz musicians in the most beautiful of settings has made the Caramoor International Music Festival one of the New York metropolitan area’s pre-eminent summer musical events.
The 54th festival season continued to offer the variety, originality and sparkle that audiences have come to expect from Caramoor. In addition to many classical music events, Caramoor featured its annual two-day Jazz Festival.
For the past five years, The Caramoor Jazz Festival has been produced by Jim Luce. Luce reports that when Caramoor’s General Manager Paul Rosenblum asked him to produce Jazz for Caramoor he "jumped at the chance because the setting here is just perfect for a really memorable jazz experience. On a very primal level, every one of your senses gets nourished. You come to this special place where, historically, music was always important, and you find the surroundings are beautiful. You picnic, the music starts, and you get right into it."
